Whether you’re an occasional or devoted bicyclist in the District, be sure to grab an updated 2019 edition of the DC Bike Map FREE at your disposal both online and in print. Riders can use the map to plan commuting and recreational trips since it shows off-street trails, a newly detailed mountain bike trail, and identifies the suitability of streets for bicycling. The map also provides riding tips and other information about bike lanes and bike safety for beginner cyclists and scooter riders. The map can be downloaded as a PDF file and accessed online or from a mobile device....

      New Traffic Signal System Gives Buses Priority

      FMLM may sound like a confusing medical term, but in the world of public transportation, it stands for “First Mile/Last Mile.” Getting to/from the primary mode of travel is a prevalent challenge that nearly all cities face while trying to plan for, and increase, the use of public transit. It can be a huge hurdle and is often what prevents people from using public transportation to begin with. First Mile, Last Mile refers to the commute distance from a person’s home (or starting point) to the transportation site and following the commute from said location to their final destination. For example, someone commuting into the District from Reston who wants to ride the Metro needs to get to the station from their house, ideally without driving alone in a car, and there’s oftentimes no perfect solution....

      Orange, Blue & Silver Line Disruptions

      Beginning August 11 through August 29th, WMATA will be performing scheduled maintenance work along the Orange, Blue, and Silver lines resulting in reduced service to all stations on those lines. Due to single tracking, Orange and Silver line trains will operate every 20 minutes, including during your morning and afternoon commutes. The Blue line will only operate between Franconia-Springfield and Arlington Cemetery, with trains operating every 16 minutes during rush hour periods....
